La Traviesa, now know as the hiking path PR LP 10, was at one time one of the most traveled roads of La Palma. It connected the whole region from the pine tree covered mountain zones to the lower farm lands, making possible the transport of cattle, or raw materials such as wood or pine needles. The spring Fuente de Trajocade, was one of the most important stops on this road, offering drinking water to humans and animals alike. It was also used as a community laundry.
