This cozy little square, which occupies the place where once the old cemetery was located, is one of the most recent urban developments of Tijarafe. Situated next to the town hall, it is a central yet at the same time private place, due to the difference in level compared to the main road. With its well-kept gardens, it is a perfect place for meditation, reading and for children to play. From an artistic point of view, the main attraction is the sculpture of the traditional “Salto del Pastor”, made by the Cantabrian artist Pereda de Castro, who has been living on the islands for several years now. For those who have not had the pleasure of seeing this astounding jumping technique, traditionally used by the shepherds to traverse the rough terrain of the mountains, the statue offers a surprisingly accurate representation of the jump.
