The Cuban poet Dulce María Loynaz wrote in her book Un Verano en Tenerife (A Summer in Tenerife) a literary refrain about this street, explaining that its name, the street of good-bye, comes from the fact that it used to connect the old cemetery with the church. The original text can now be read on the facade of one of the houses in that street.
